I spent much of today, from noon onward, deliriously happy.

I left my house at 12:30, for a nice leisurely drive northwest to Townsend, nearly missing the turnoff to Fey's, but that's okay. I got there sometime past one, helped set up a stereo and folded some clothes. I also spent some time with a rat and a kid sister, and listened to Fey effectivly turn down the Army.

We talked, about things. I have less trouble finding the words I want, when I talk to her...

And when Sean asked me, How are you?, I said, I'm happy. And it's true, most of the time. I can rely on my friends to listen to me and to hold me up, and to give me tight hugs when I need it the most.

And I said my goodbyes, not without some pain - but we're still sisters, in our way, and I'm not afraid of us losing each other. I'll go visit her, and I'll write...

I also got to drive Sean (and pick up Tenma on the way) to Nashua, NH, from Townsend. Which meant lots of music, being told to speed, my bandanna being stolen, my headrest taken off, and Sean putting his feet on me. Also, I went on the highway! Sean talked me through it. I've only been on the highway twice! And not even recently! But it was fun.

Then we made copies.

That's all.

Love you, my dears.

Oh!

The Fair! I totally forgot to write anything about it, anywhere. Silly me.

So here's what's important...

My natural horsemanship-type training wicked paid off with Rory, as I pinned in Equitation(3rd), Dressage(5th), and... bugger and blast, what was the other one? Oh, Fitting and Showmanship(2nd). He was calm, responsive, and actually stood quietly in a large group of horses. I have had him for almost seven years, and he has never done that before. We learned a lot, this summer, about dominance, and who's in charge. He feels better, when he's told exactly what to do - then he doesn't have to think. And since I'm the boss mare of his herd...

I made a lot of friends down at the barn - mostly Woodville kids, as usual, including one girl with the most gorgeous blue roan Tennessee Walker... *drool* So we talked a lot, and had fun comparing riding stories - getting thrown, kicked, bucked off, bitten, etc. (Every sport and some hobbies has these type of look-what-I-did-to-myself! stories. Ours are just better, because they involve thousand-pound animals.)

I saw Dama. And since she can make me smile by just being around, that was awesome; that I got to actually find the time to hang out with her and talk was even better. She came and watched me barrelrace (which apparently should include horses rolling barrels by standing on them), and I made her dance. Not without a price, but I did get her to. In fact, she later called simply to remind me of said price. She also had shiny, whirly things.

Played in the 4H Feud, made it to the final round, and lost. Again. We keep doing that - I think maybe the Thieves' Guild is cursed or something, because this has happened 5 times now. Did not collapse the tables this year.

Got Top Senior, Top Exhibitor, and Best Indiv. Exhibit in the Writing department. My club won the Fitting and Show trophy, the Western trophy, the Gymkhana trophy, and the English reserve ribbon.

I only felt like crying once, having to do with a particulary painful Command class (Rory wanted to keep playing, I wanted him to stand quietly - it's like Simon Says, and I was out). But then, a Fair without tears is not a Fair. It's some sort of law. And they didn't last long; Rory's a good boy.

Got some new dead baby jokes. Dama, you need to give me every one you know, because Emily needs to be told some more, whether she likes it or not.

My favorite one?

Q: What do you say when there are dead babies falling from the sky?
A: Pull!

It was awesome, and if it was my last... it was a good ending.
