On the Addams Family:
"Uncle Fester says it's the thought that counts. I'm thinking of a nice friendly cobra."
"What kind of powder does your momma use?"
"Baking powder."
"I mean on her face."
"...baking powder."
"Uncle Fester uses a spray-on preservative."
"You mean spray-on deoderant."
"No, preservative."
"You mean to keep young?"
"No, just to keep."
What an incredibly surreal show.
I've discovered that what's important to this show is not so much the visual spookiness, but all the implied weirdness that's going on in the background of things. It's not what they do, but what they refer to when they speak. It's hilarious, of course, but some things are actually spooky. Like Wednesday, even though the TV-show Addams Wednesday has nothing on the sheer creepiness of young Ms. Ricci.
I'm personally quite fond of Morticia's plants. Especially the ones that embraced, but ended up strangling each other.
And all the veiled sexuality! My god! Morticia and Gomez are constantly going at it like rabbits. It really is quite remarkable. I mean, they never show any sex, but the implication! In every episode, they clearly wish to rip each others' clothes off. It's my favorite part.
