Guys! Guys!

Guess what I have!

I'll give you a clue: they are small with no hair on their tails, have big ears, and rhyme with lice. Which they don't have.

MICE.

Two little black females, rescued lab mice; the Reproductive Biology class was studying them and they just got done and if we had not taken them they would have been put to sleep. So Cat and I took two, and Britt took two; a couple of other people are stopping in tomorrow to pick up their new friends. We bought a cage, bedding, food, and some deodorizer so they don't smell too much. Cost about 30 bucks - most of that was the cage, and I'll probably have to spend about... $7 every month to keep them warm and fed. Cat's taking care of them during spring break and the summer.

The friendly one is called "Penelope" (Penny or Pen) and the shy one who needs to be handled a lot more before she calms down is "Hey There Delilah" (Delilah or Del). Sarah calls her "Fussy". Guess which one I named? Pen is a little smaller and has a white tail-tip and more white behind her ears, Del is all black and has a nick - I think her litter-mate bit her - out of her right ear. They're really cute. Pen has a THING for the food bowl - she sits in it, the spaz - and Del loves to run in the wheel.

I gave them both a bath, which they DID NOT enjoy, but they were a little bit smelly from living in the lab cages. Sarah cuddled them both afterwards, so they warmed up quickly; as you know, she radiates heat.

I love them and playing with them is very relaxing. And distracting, but oh well.
